“I am the handmaid of the Lord.

Let it be done to me according to Thy word.”

(Luke 1:38)

one with the father, the lord jesus always fulfilled the will of the father; He became the servant of mankind to the extent of giving His life for all. In the Immaculate Conception the Blessed Virgin Mary was lavished with the fullness of grace and cooperated with the divine mission of the Incarnation. It was by her Fiat, that eminent act of love and of her free will, and through the consent of her heart, that she entered into the mystery of the Word Incarnate and associated herself voluntarily with her Son’s obedience.

The Congregation of the Canons Regular of the Immaculate Conception received its title from Blessed Pope Pius IX. The cradle of our Congregation was a church at Baudin (France) dedicated under the title of the Immaculate Conception; a mystery that the Community honors by a filial devotion to Mary. Placed under the patronage of the Mother of God, we follow the Church, with great care, in her cult of Mary.

It is our filial love of Mary Immaculate that inspires us to imitate her virtues. Her life, so intimately united to the principal events in the human life of the Eternal Priest, and her love of God which is ever faithful, is our ideal that we to may treasure His words in our hearts and celebrate with deep faith the mystery of our redemption. In this way we can reveal Him in the holiness of our lives, praise Him with our voices, and be faithful to Him in our deeds.

The Blessed Virgin Mary conceived Christ,

brought Him forth, nourished Him, presented Him to the Father in the Temple,

she suffered with the Son as He died on the Cross.

She cooperated in a totally special manner in the work of the Savior

by her obedience, faith, hope and charity,

so as to restore the supernatural life to sinners.

For this reason she is Mother to all of us in the order of grace.

(Vatican II, Lumen Gentium, §61)
